Project Overview


Golfbaan De Texelse is arguably one of the most stunning links courses in the Netherlands. Located on Texel, the largest of the Wadden Islands, this course offers a unique landscape shaped by wind and sea.


The objective of this project was to capture the essence of all 18 holes through high-end photography and cinematography. By shooting during the soft, golden spring light in May, we aimed to highlight the rugged beauty of the dunes and the course’s seamless integration with the surrounding nature.

The photography Challenge


The primary challenge was managing the effects of an exceptionally dry spring. It was vital to ensure the dry conditions didn’t detract from the visual appeal, but rather emphasized the authentic, wild character of a true links course.


Additionally, achieving visual consistency across the entire series was a top priority. To ensure a uniform atmosphere and lighting profile, the entire shoot had to be completed within a single weekend—leaving no room for error and requiring a tight, disciplined schedule.

THE APPROACH


My creative strategy focused on "The Player’s Perspective." While high-altitude drone shots offer a map-like view, they can feel disconnected. Instead, I opted for low-altitude aerials and ground-level wide-angle shots.


By capturing the course from the eye level of a golfer, I aimed to evoke the feeling of standing on the tee box or approaching the green. This immersive approach allows golfers to visualize their game and understand the strategic layout of every hole.

The result


The final collection consists of a cohesive set of highly detailed images and cinematic footage that perfectly represent the course’s character. These visuals don't just show the holes; they tell the story of the landscape, providing the club with a premium library of content for their marketing and digital presence.
