Project Overview
The vibrant turquoise of the water meets the rugged limestone of the Tafelberg.
In February 2025, I spent a weekend translating the soul of Old Quarry into a visual narrative. This wasn't just about taking pictures; it was about capturing the "island vibe" and the high-end architectural lines that define this world-class destination.
The goal? To create a brand identity that makes members proud and guests yearn for the first tee.
The photography Challenge
The sun on Curaçao doesn't linger; it performs a disappearing act. You have a mere twenty-minute window where the light turns to liquid gold before the tropical darkness sets in. I found myself racing against the clock, tripod in hand, navigating the transition between the lush greens and the desert-like "Paspalum" grass. Every hole tells a different story, from the crashing waves at the seaside to the silent shadows of the quarry.
THE APPROACH
As a scratch golfer, I don’t just see a landscape; I see a dogleg left, a tricky crosswind, and the perfect landing zone. My approach was surgical: using the early morning dew and the late-day shadows to reveal the true contours of the fairways. I chose to embrace the elements—the Caribbean breeze that rustles the palms and the dramatic clouds—to add a layer of tension and realism that a standard drone shot simply can't capture.
The result
The final imagery doesn't just show the course; it evokes the feeling of the trade winds on your skin and the anticipation of a well-struck iron. From the rugged coastline to the impressive rock formations, each image serves as a silent ambassador for Old Quarry. These photos now live on the club's website and socials, inviting golfers worldwide to experience the magic of Curaçao before they’ve even hit a single ball.
